Sorry for abandoning the blog for a long time. AGAIN. XD After I went to Japan, I was busy with assignments and all so I couldn't update. I promise that I will update you guys on my trip to Japan now that the break/holiday started :D
Today, I would like to answer a few of the questions that my friends always ask me:
- Why/How did you lose weight?
- Why do you always workout?
- Why are you picky of what you eat?
The answer to all of these questions are motivation and determination. Why did I lose weight? Well, I was once an obese stage 2. Yup, that bad. I constantly get headaches and stomachaches. I went to see a doctor and he said that all of the sickness I felt was due to too much visceral fat/organ fat. I was diagnosed with fatty liver and the only cure was to exercise and diet. So I did what the doctor told me. How did I lose weight? I ate less and also went to the gym at least 2-3 times a week. Jog alot and carried light weights. To motivate myself I bought smaller size t shirts and pants. I tried wearing them every other week just to keep track of my progress. If you're keeping track of your progress, even the slightest improvement will make you happy. Trust me. Lost 20kgs in a year which in considered quite an achievement for me.
Then I (or some people) noticed that I was too thin. I had to gain back some weight. Which is the harder part as I started searching the internet and some magazines for tips. Less jogging and heavier weights at the gym. Started drinking protein shakes and eating 5-6 times a day. Why am I picky of what I eat? To build muscle you need to eat 1g of protein for 1 pound of body weight. So im 190 pounds I need to eat 190 grams of protein (but I usually eat around 150 only). Fat consumed in a day must not exceed 35% of your protein so thats 65grams. Calories per day should be less than 3000. Well, the average fast food chain like McD has set meals that is 1300 calories, processed foods which is high in fat, and almost everything is deep fried in oil. Which is why if I go to McD and eat lunch, the only food that I'll eat are the fried chicken (cause its not processed, around 40 grams of protein, less than 20 grams of fat) or the quarter pounder burger (29g of protein, 26g of fat) and of course I'll skip the fries. Im not saying that Im a serious health freak. If I was one, I wouldnt even be eating at McD. haha. I allow myself for a "cheat" day or meal where I can eat anything I want. Usually I'll eat anything I want for one meal in one day or I eat anything I want for one whole day in a week.
The main motivation or reason why I maintain a somewhat healthy lifestyle is due to the future. Every time I go to the gym and eat proper meals, I consider it an investment for a better future. When Im 60, I wana be living like im 40. When Im 70-80, I want to be able to play with my grandchildren and still be able to pray while standing. When Im 90-100, I want to still be breathing, hopefully. haha :D
So come on people. Move your arsses. If I can do it, why cant you? :P
